Colonoscopy

EUS
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Diagnosis of gall bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, biliary cancer, liver cancer, adrenal cancer, mediastinal/abdominal tuberculosis can be easily made using EUS guided FNAC. Chronic pancreatitis and biliary stones can be confirmed using EUS.
Therapeutic EUS is used in the treatment of difficult biliary drainage, gall bladder drainage, and peri-pancreatic fluid collections drainage. Additionally, EUS is also helpful in guiding precise needle placement for cyst and tumor biopsies, ensuring accurate results and better patient outcomes.
ERCP
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a procedure for the treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases. ERCP is performed by the oral route after sedation. During ERCP, bile duct and pancreatic ducts are evaluated after injection of contrast agent, and various therapeutic procedures can be performed. During ERCP, stones can be removed from CBD or pancreatic duct and stents can be placed in CBD for treatment of jaundice and in MPD for pain relief.
The procedure is highly effective in managing conditions like cholangitis, pancreatitis, and bile duct strictures. ERCP also allows for the collection of tissue samples for biopsy and the treatment of bile leaks.
Polypectomy
Polypectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that removes abnormal growths from your stomach, duodenum, colon, and can be used to screen for cancer growths. It is carried out during the same procedure as gastroscopy or colonoscopy. The procedure helps prevent the development of cancer by removing precancerous polyps before they can grow into malignant tumors.
Polypectomy is typically quick, with minimal discomfort, allowing for a fast recovery and reducing the need for more invasive surgery.
PEG
PEG stands for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, a procedure in which a flexible feeding tube is placed through the abdominal wall and into the stomach. PEG allows nutrition, fluids and/or medications to be put directly into the stomach, bypassing the mouth and esophagus.
This procedure is commonly used for patients who are unable to eat or swallow due to medical conditions like stroke, cancer, or neurological disorders. PEG is minimally invasive, typically performed under local anesthesia, and offers long-term support for patients requiring ongoing nutritional assistance.
POEM
POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy) is a specialized endoscopic procedure used to treat swallowing disorders, most commonly for Achalasia. POEM is a relatively new procedure that uses endoscopic technology and stands for Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy. This is an in-patient procedure and can take between one to three hours to complete. The procedure involves making a small incision in the inner lining of the esophagus to cut the muscle, allowing food to pass more easily into the stomach.
POEM offers a less invasive alternative to traditional surgery, with a shorter recovery time and improved long-term outcomes for patients.
EMR/ESD
This procedure removes early-stage cancer and precancerous growths from the lining of the digestive tract. It works better with superficial masses. EMR is minimally invasive, offering precise removal of abnormal tissue with a quicker recovery than traditional surgery.
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD): This procedure removes larger tumors from the gastrointestinal tract. ESD is more technically challenging than EMR, requiring advanced skills, and is used for complex or deeper lesions that cannot be removed with EMR.
